Cleaning with Hydrogen Peroxide

Cleaning Faucet

Hydrogen peroxide has been used since the early 1800s. While its first commercial use was primarily for bleaching hats, it is useful for a multitude of tasks – from something as small as whitening teeth to something as grand as propelling a rocket. Today, about one billion pounds of hydrogen peroxide is produced annually for these purposes – just one of which is its superb cleaning and disinfecting ability.

What is Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is similarly constructed to water – it’s made up of two hydrogen and two oxygen atoms. Hydrogen peroxide has one extra oxygen atom that tends to break down when it meets other substances. While this may seem counterintuitive, it is this breakdown that helps to remove stains, dirt, and debris from a myriad of floors, appliances, surfaces, mirrors, walls, glass, and even carpet.

How to Use Hydrogen Peroxide

Being so closely related to water, this chemical is 100% safe for the environment and works effectively against mold, mildew, bacteria, and fungi. When applying this compound, you can easily use a cleaning cloth and launder it afterward. Do not mix hydrogen peroxide with vinegar at any point as this will create a corrosive acid that can damage your skin, eyes, and lungs. As always, be sure to use gloves and other protective equipment since prolonged use can cause burns to the skin.

Suprox-D Hydrogen Peroxide EPA Disinfectant

Suprox – D™ is an EPA registered, neutral pH in dilution, hospital disinfectant with the cleaning power of peroxide. Containing twice the amount of peroxide than most brands, Suprox – D excels at cleaning and can be used on many surfaces. Its neutral pH makes it safe on floors, and the peroxide aids in brightening grout on hard tile surfaces. Excellent cleaning and disinfecting, combined with a cost-effective 2 ounce per gallon dilution rate makes Suprox – D the ideal choice to replace a multitude of products in a cleaning program, simplifying staff training and streamlining purchasing. Dye-free and fragrance-free.
